Bong Joon-ho designed the entire house as a compositional machine. Upstairs is wide, symmetrical, filled with horizontal lines — wealth is stable. The semi-basement is cramped, diagonal, looking UP. The composition itself is the class system. You don't need subtitles to understand this film — the frames tell you everything.
